Jennifer’s Story: The Impact of Ultrasound

(As told by one of our consultants)

 

 

Teenaged “Jennifer” came into the Center at the end of April for a pregnancy test. She wasn’t sure how far in her pregnancy she was, but she was certain of one thing; she could not carry this baby to term. “Jennifer” had seen some hard things in her very young life; but she was determined to break this cycle.

 

Having a child did not fit into this plan. Abortion was the plan that would free her to make the changes.

 

 

I asked her to come back and have an ultrasound so that we could tell how far along she actually was. She was already at 20 weeks!

 

 

The ultrasound was amazing. It brought this child to life in a very real way. She could see every part of this child: all of its organs, fingers, toes, and of course, that beautiful face!

 

 

After the ultrasound I asked if we could talk about what stood in the way of her carrying the baby. She explained the very real difficulties of her life. I asked her if we could talk a little about the option of supporting her through her pregnancy and also the option of adoption.

 

I finished the time with this client by praying for her, assuring her that God would lead and guide her. She told me she knew God but He was just far away at this time. Perhaps, she thought, God was using this situation to call her back to Himself.

 

I did not hear back from “Jennifer” for another week.

 

On a Tuesday evening shift she emailed me to tell me that she “just wanted to let me know that she had made a decision and that she had chosen to make an adoption plan for her baby”.

 

 

We emailed for 2 hours that night and then every week until she could come back in to the center! We eventually contacted the adoption agency together and she continued steadfast in her plan. Her baby was born on a Tuesday evening in September. Her adoptive mom was with her through the birth!

 

We praise Jesus for the beautiful miracles that He worked in this mother’s heart. And, for all the miracles that He continues to perform right here at the PCC on a regular basis.

 

 

He continually does even more than we can imagine: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” -Ephesians 3:20-21
