LifePlan’s Baby Cakes Cupcake Contest 2020
Over 60 dozen cupcakes were sold to the public to raise money for LifePlan on Saturday, January 18, 2020 during the Hunter Ice Festival in Niles, MI. These cupcakes were baked by our Baby Cakes bakers as part of our annual cupcake contest. This year’s contest was held at The Rage, a restaurant in downtown Niles, and bakers raised $819 in cupcake sales alone! All proceeds from the Baby Cakes Cupcake Contest will be used to help women, men, babies, and families in Niles, Benton Harbor, and the surrounding communities!
Baby Cakes Cupcake Contest Winners
1st Place Overall
Ashley Hagerman, gingerbread cupcakes
Ashley’s gingerbread cupcakes were the perfect representation of LifePlan! The cookies on top of the cupcakes featured the LifePlan logo – a heart made up of three different sections representing you, your baby, and your family. Ashley had her baby and husband along with her for the day as well, adding to the representation of LifePlan. And, the Oh, and the cupcakes tasted really good, too! Great job, Ashley!
2nd Place Overall
Kim Stoops, white and chocolate cupcakes
Kim’s cupcakes took us to a land somewhere over the rainbow! Her Wizard of Oz theme wowed the judges and the cupcakes tasted just as good. Her white and chocolate cupcakes scored high in every category, giving her 2nd place overall. Great job, Kim!
3rd Place Overall
Rachael Clanton, vanilla and chocolate
Rachael had a military theme for her cupcake display with pictures of members of her family who have served or are serving in the armed forces. Her white and chocolate cupcakes were decorated in camouflage, but the taste wasn’t hidden from the judges! Her cupcakes and display earned her 3rd place overall. Great job, Rachael!

Aleischa Mulcahey
Aleischa entered three different flavors of cupcakes — Tres Leche, Vanilla Orange, and Chocolate Whiskey, but it was her Tres Leche cupcakes that impressed the judges the most. She owns Baby Cakes (not related to the contest) and makes homemade cakes for any occasion. Check out her facebook page here.

Faith White & Hannah Quinones
Faith and Hannah worked together to bring an incredibly cute display to this year’s Baby Cakes Contest! Their s’more cupcakes were decorated to look like ladybugs and other cute critters and they were among the first to sell out of all their cupcakes. Great job, Faith and Hannah!
Best Representation of LifePlan
Kerrie Bass
Kerrie’s display represented LifePlan incredibly well! She even gave her cupcake flavors names that showcased LifePlan’s values — Fragrant Faith, Blue Hope, and True Love. Thank you, Kerrie, for doing such a great job representing LifePlan to the community!

Corban Gamble & Nathan Janesheski
Corban and Nathan’s cupcakes truly impressed our judges. The red velvet with blueberries and strawberries on top tasted delicious and their display was colorful, well organized, and showcased LifePlan’s colors. Great job, Corban and Nathan!

Liberty has been a Baby Cakes Cupcake Baker since she was a little girl and this year’s cupcakes did not disappoint! Her Reeses and Baby Ruth cupcakes were a hit with the public and sold out quickly. Great job, Liberty!

Debbie’s lemon cupcakes were absolutely amazing! The bright colors and delicious taste made these cupcakes a favorite for many who came through to purchase cupcakes! Great job, Debbie!

Miranda Churchill
Miranda is also a returning baker to the Baby Cakes Cupcake Contest. This year she baked Red Velvet and Reeses Cupcakes. Her display was very creative and included lights at the table and pink and blue candy bar toppings on the cupcakes — perfect for a Baby Cakes contest!
